Diktamos is a plant with grey-green fluffy leaves that grows in the mountains of Crete on steep gorges and coastal cliffs. It is also called the "king herb among Cretan herbs".
Diktamos as a medicinal plant:
The plant is already known from ancient times for its healing properties and was also used there as a universal medicinal herb.
Nowadays, dictamos is used as a remedy for stomach and intestinal complaints and digestive problems, for headaches as well as for colds.
In addition, dictamos has strong antibacterial properties, so it can also be used externally for skin diseases and wounds.
Preparation as tea:
Pour 1 teaspoon of Diktamos per cup with hot water and let it steep for 10 minutes.
The tea can be refined very well with Cretan thyme honey and/or cinnamon.
Diktamos as a spice:
Diktamos is also suitable as a seasoning herb for hearty meals or in salads.
